The
overall goal of this program is to develop the trainee's capacity to
practically manage problems and issues concerning water-related disasters in local
levels and@to contribute forwards socio-economic and environmental improvements
at regional and national levels in developing countries. Trainees are expected
to become independent investigators in the areas of integrated flood disaster
management, equipped with the most advanced technical and legal know-how to enhance
the basic understanding of the challenges of flood risks. They should then be
able to translate this knowledge back to practical water-related disaster reduction
strategies including poverty reduction and the promotion of sustainable development
